Giving Valentines to Say Thank You

It's an exciting day! This is our first official blog post and you would think I'd like to talk about our vacation rentals on the Isle of Palms, the specials we're offering, all the cool happenings in the area, etc… and that's what I had planned until our management meeting the other day which inspired me to remind folks how important it is to take the time out of your hectic day to let others know that you care about them.

Our boss, Sandy, entered our meeting with a few grocery sacks with what we thought contained cereal boxes and we were all wondering what exercise we were about to have to do. The bags remained on the table throughout the meeting then at the end, he gave one box to each of us and they were Valentines! He asked us to take the time out this week to write notes to our coworkers saying whatever we felt e.g. we appreciate what they do, thank you for always making me laugh during stressful times, etc... Normally we probably would have all sighed and thought, "How corny! Don't make us do this!" However, we've all been working diligently over the past year to improve our operation not to mention going through an extremely grueling and stressful software integration.

The Valentines ranging from Kung Fu Panda to Disney Fairies made us all giggle as we reminisced when we were kids in school excitedly inserting Valentines in our classmates’ boxes. The silly Valentines brought smiles to our faces, and we're all making the effort to take time out of our day to write a note to our coworkers. It’s fun to be a kid again especially just when you seem to have forgotten! This holiday doesn’t have to be just a romantic occasion but a time to show everyone in your life that you care.
