Charleston area 5Ks

As I mentioned the other day, I recently had some friends in town. While they were here, we ran the Run Forrest Run 5K race, sponsored by the Riverdogs and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The race began in front of the Riverdogs stadium and finished at home plate! I enjoyed slapping hands with all the Riverdogs players after reaching the finish line. See Forrest himself in the photo below! This was my first ever 5K. I enjoyed the race so much that I was inspired to look up other 5Ks in the area on active.com, a great source for anything fitness related.

If you are seeking an excuse to vacation in the Charleston area, plan your visit to conincide with one of several upcoming 5Ks. Here's a sampling of upcoming races:

• May 9th 8:00am -- Windsor Hill Hawk Trot 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run, North Charleston, SC
• May 30th 6:30pm -- ALS H.O.P.E. Race 2009, Isle of Palms, SC
• June 13th 8:00am -- Floppin' Flounder 5K, Sullivans Island, SC
• June 14th 9:00am -- Run for the 9 Memorial 5K, Mt. Pleasant, SC (I am already registered for this one!)

These races are located less than 10 minutes from the Isle of Palms (20 minutes for the North Charleston race). Plan a 3-night or week stay at Island Realty and particpate in one of these races, all to benefit various charitable organizations. See you at the finish line!
