Run for the 9 5K Memorial Run this Sunday!

One of my favorite things about living in Charleston is that people here tend to be really active, and there are always fun outdoor events happening on the weekends. Sunday morning, I will participate in a 5K in memory of the Charleston area firefighters who tragically lost their lives in the Sofa Super Store fire on June 18, 2007.

The Charleston Firefighters Association is holding a commemorative 5K run at the scenic Palmetto Islands County park in Mt. Pleasant. Online registration ends tonight at 9pm (you can register by visiting active.com but you can also register the day of the race at the sign in table). The park opens at 7am, registration begins at 8am, and the race starts at 9am.

Going to be in the area this Sunday? Take part in this great inaugural event! Children under 12 are free. The Palmetto Islands County Park is located a quick 10 minutes from the Isle of Palms, off of Highway 17 North. I've been registered for this event for awhile now, and I'm really looking forward to it. Hope to see some of you on race day!
